What We Do:
The process begins with the drywall taper (mudder) spreading gypsum based joint compound over the drywall seams. A taping knife is used to imbed drywall joint tape over the joint area. The drywall taper will also cover nail and screw divots by spreading joint compound over the divots.
After the first coat of joint compound has dried the drywall taper will scrape the walls with a broad knife in preparation for each of the second and third (skim) coats. When the skim coat has dried, the drywall taper will sand the areas where the joint compound was applied. At this point any imperfections will be touched up with light coat(s) of joint compound. Various options exist to minimize the migration of dust during sanding. Most mudding projects can be completed in 7 days.
If priming/painting has been requested, this is done immediately following the completion of sanding. In the case of texture application, primer is applied, followed by texture application. Painting of non-textured surfaces completes the process.
